Hey there!
I’m Alana (she/her), a director based in Naarm/Melbourne, bringing a fun yet sensitive lens to everything I do.
I started out in advertising and have had the privilege of working with brands like Gruen Transfer, Lean Cuisine, Coles, the Australian Childhood Foundation, Cloak & Dagger, Conti Tyres and Metro Tunnel. I recently wrapped a spot for the Federal Government, and I’m always on the lookout for the next interesting project.
On set, I create a space that’s soft, warm, and sometimes a little bit silly, because when people feel comfortable, that’s when the real magic happens. I don’t approach directing in a traditional way. I bring a fresh lens, as I truly believe we can make beautiful work and have a good time doing it (no egos, please). That said, I am a Capricorn - so when I commit to a project, I’m all in. No matter the size, I give it my full love and attention, and I always make sure the final product is something I’m proud of.
In 2023, I completed Archived, my short film, and I’m now diving into my next adventure: Bell St, a TV/web series currently in development with support from VicScreen.
As a queer woman, I’m passionate about uplifting and amplifying marginalised voices in film. Representation matters (both on and off camera) and I aim for at least an even gender split on every crew I work with, including non-binary and gender-diverse folk.
If you’ve got something in mind, let’s chat. I’d love to send through a treatment and show you how my brain works.
Thank yeew and speak soon!
